Level: Royal School of Music Grade 8
2009: Jonathan had earned distinction with honors on his RSM Grade 6 examination. He's currently working on Beethoven Sonatas, Ástor Piazzolla transcriptions, Bach Preludes & Fugues, Chopin Etudes and Nocturnes, and several Bossa Jazz pieces. Jonathan will be performing in Student Winter Concert 2009.
2008: Jonathan had prior piano studies before learning from Ms.Mak. Jonathan came to Ms.Mak with the level of Royal School of Music grade 4 and serious to advance his musical skills. Ms. Mak recognized Jonathan's commitment and passion in music. She encouraged him by helping him develop different musical styles and forms, as well as the different touchings available for intermediate piano performance. He quickly picked up the tonation, 4 part voicing, and musicality. His enthusiasm propelled him to grade 6 repertoire. Ms. Mak had added Chopin Nocturne to his studies for a more balanced repertoire. Jonathan is also working on duet pieces with his younger brother Aidan.
Aside from piano, Jonathan is also studying trombone. Ms. Mak is preparing Jonathan for his aural and ear tests on his trombone exams.
