About Heidi Mak

Heidi Mak is the daughter of the late Jason Chi-Shing Mak, a renowned German-opera tenor and beloved vocal instructor. Heidi grew up surrounded by music and displayed extraordinary talents from the age of 2.

Heidi Mak's piano training was enriched by numerous professors and piano Masters, PhD professors, performers, and coaches stemming from Juilliard School of the Arts, Yale University, University of Toronto, and other institutions. She has won numerous awards, namely 1st place in Romantic Category, and 1st place in A.R.C.T. performance level competition at the Peel Music Festival in Canada.  She was the featured solo pianist in a jazz ensembly winning first place in Boston Jazz Music Festival in 1990.   She was also invited on numerous judge panels for classical and contemporary music competitions. 

Ms. Mak has been an instructor to over 400 aspiring students - age 3 to adults.  Many students won school-wide and regional competitions, music leagues, auditions for art schools, and scholarships. She was a supervisor, senior teacher, and music director in conservatories and music schools both in Toronto and Hong Kong . She also acted as the piano accompanist for the New York East Harlem Choir.  She has arranged choir, ensembles, and musically arranged popular and broadway musical numbers. She teaches piano in popular and classical format, voice, and music theory.


Ms. Mak also acts as artist in residence for art and music studios in Hong Kong, as vocal and music coach for various productions. Aside from teaching, Heidi was involved in numerous music productions in North America with her most recent collaboration as educator and artistic director of a 3-part instructional DVD series called "Piano Made Fun For Little Fingers". 

She currently resides in Mid-levels, Hong Kong.
